The best seat in the house for over a century.

A lasting impression…

Rosman Cruises boasts a rich history dating back to the early 1900s, with vessels epitomising traditional boatbuilding craftsmanship since 1939.

Established in 1916 by Charles Rosman, Rosman Ferries embarked on its journey as a ferry service connecting Balmain, North Sydney, and Garden Island, primarily catering to the transportation needs of dockyard workers at the Royal Australian Navy base. This pivotal service continued until 1981.

During the late 1920s and early 1930s, Rosman Ferries expanded its scope, providing essential transportation for workers involved in the construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Additionally, the company played a significant role as the main spectator ferry provider for the Sydney Flying Squadron 18-foot skiff races.

Following Sydney Ferries Limited's withdrawal from the route in 1950, Rosman Ferries stepped in, initiating a peak-hour service on the Lane Cove River in November of the same year.

In 1987, Charles Rosman retired, passing the baton to Steve and Frank Matthews, along with Ross and Neva Williams, who took over the company and took over the care of the ferries Royale, Radar and Regal II. By 1997, the Matthews brothers acquired full ownership and the purchase of Proclaim. In 2008, the Matthews brothers sold Rosman Ferries to Noakes Group PTY LTD. Marking a new chapter in Rosman Cruises' legacy.

The relocation from Mosman Bay to Berry’s Bay after seven decades further underscored the company's adaptability and growth.

Undergoing a minor name change from Rosman Ferries to Rosman Cruises and under the expert care of a dedicated crew, the Rosman fleet continues to maintain its pristine condition, offering a timeless and elegant experience for passengers. Today, these classic vessels grace Sydney Harbour, serving as venues for weddings, corporate events, private charters or cruises, school excursions and public transport services operated by Sydney Ferries. Their presence is prominent during iconic events such as Vivid, Australia Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Eve celebrations.

With a fleet of heritage vessels offering comfort and sophistication, Rosman Cruises ensures every guest enjoys a memorable experience on the water.
